  • What are the key areas in which you learned new skills/information about technology this semester?
I felt that I learned a lot about using technology for design and aesthetics, in addition to learning about the various ways I could use technology in my classroom. Designing an event poster in Pixlr and designing the entire Weebly site helped me practice using technology to present information in an organized and easy-yet-pleasing way to look at. When information looks nice, people will probably be more willing to pay attention.

  • What are the key areas in which you increased your knowledge about integrating technology into your teaching?
I think learning to integrate technology into my teaching helped me to develop more ways to teach the same/similar content. All students have different ways of learning; being able to provide various resources for them will help me guide more students in more ways. I’ve also gained more knowledge on how to use project-based learning in my classroom.

  • Of all the topics we addressed this semester, which one (or more) would you still like to learn more about?
I think it would be fun to learn about making short promotional/advertisement videos; the topic could sort of go along with learning how to make a poster advertising an event. Perhaps it would be helpful to know how to make a video advertising a school concert, a musical theater production, or even the music department of a school as a whole; or the skill could be used to create a fun end-of-the-year video for graduating students to take a trip down memory lane.

  • How would you compare or contrast what you learned this semester from the way technology was used by your teachers during your K-12 schooling?
What I learned this semester wasn’t too different from the way my math, science, history, and english teachers used technology in the classroom. However, I think more technology being used specifically in the music classroom is slightly more recent. Websites that allow students to experiment with loops and notate music for free were never really used back when I was in grades K-12. As I’ve known it, the music classroom has always used “classic” learning with worksheets for music theory and practice, practice, practice!

  • How would you describe your attitude toward technology now compared to the beginning of the semester?
My attitude toward technology hasn’t really changed. I feel that my generation generally appreciates the advantages that technology allows us to have. Before this semester, I definitely wanted to implement technology into my students’ learning, but now I have more tools, resources, and knowledge to use when planning exactly HOW I’m going to do that.
